Sermons

This is a Shabbat sermon I delivered a few months into the Gaza war, shortly after our congregation had protestors loudly disrupt a talk by an IDF general. My goal was to help the congregation to process some of the trauma, but also to highlight the necessity of difficult and holy conversations

This is a more typical Shabbat sermon based on Parshat Ki Tavo connecting the offering of first fruits to loving the stranger. It also includes an original story I wrote while had a student pulpit in South Dakota. I found inspiration hiking in the Black Hills.

This is a Yom Kippur sermon I delivered in the wake of the state of Florida continuing to ban books containing LGBTQ+ content and threatening trans health care. I was particularly proud of this one and how it helped members of that community in our congregation to know that they are welcomed and safe.

This is my 4th year sermon at HUC-JIR in Cincinnati which Morris H. Youngerman Memorial Prize for best sermon of the 2018-2019 school year. It connects my own mental health journey with that of Moses Maimonides and explores how we can lessen the stigma on discussion of mental health concerns.
